TPBI gives sports equipment to the pilot school participating in the "Won to School” activity.
On June 15, 2023, Mr. Sittichai Borrisuttanakul, Chief Operating Officer-Consumables, TPBI Public Company Limited, was the representative in giving sports equipment worth 12,000 Baht to Nikhom Sang Ton Eng School 4, Phana Nikhom Sub District, Nikhom Phatthana District, Rayong Province. Part of the sports equipment is derived from the cooperation of students, teachers and all employees in sorting and collecting stretchable plastic waste from the “Won to School” activity.
TPBI believes that to cultivate the awareness of environmental preservation and the use of resources efficiently should start in the youth. Therefore, the company has initiated an activity called "Won to School" by bringing in the "Won" project to run an activity of sharing knowledge of waste sorting, especially, stretchable plastic waste to reduce the amount of waste that goes into public areas and landfills and also create awareness of being a part of responsibility for the environment in the home and school to elementary-aged students. After knowledge sharing activity, there will be ongoing activity for students, teachers, and all staff in the school to bring stretchable plastic waste both from home and school and collect it at the school's pick-up point. At the appointed time, TPBI will pick up all collected stretchable plastic waste to recycle by giving the waste value at market price and will use that obtained value plus the additional fund from the company to purchase sports equipment for the school.
Nikhom Sang Ton Eng School 4, Rayong Province, is considered one of the pilot schools that TPBI has started to do "Won to School" activities. The activity started on August 24, 2022, then has run the waste collecting activity by specifying the appointed period for a total of 6 months. With the cooperation of students, teachers, and all staff, the school was able to sort and collect stretchable plastic waste up to 118 kilograms.
Mr. Sitthichai said, “On behalf of TPBI Group, we are very pleased to give sports equipment to Nikhom Sang Ton Eng School 4 to use in the health promotion and recreational activities and I am very impressed with the collaboration between the students and all staff of the school that can collect up to 118 kilograms of stretchable plastic waste, which is considered a large amount. Also, considering the quality of the stretchable plastic waste collected, this shows that they understood and paid attention to the information from the activities provided by the "Won" project. We will continue this activity with the school to develop this eco-friendly mindset into sustainable habits.”
Currently, the “Won” project has organized more than 40 activities to raise awareness of plastic waste sorting for communities, schools, and others. Learn more about the “Won” project at www.tpbigroup.com/sustainable-development/won-project or Facebook wontogether.
